Bucket Lists

I don't have one.  A bucket list, that is.  You know,  like in that movie The Bucket List?  Jack Nicholson, Morgan Freeman?  Old guys trying to do the things they want to do before they "kick the bucket"?

I don't quite get it.  I get lists and sometimes I even make lists but I don't have any check off list of what needs to be accomplished before I fold into the mystic.  That seems so huge and so transient to me.  What I want right now is, in all probability, not going to be what I want in six months or a year, let alone in ten years.  I guess you can make the list and change it a lot but what exactly is the point of the bucket list?  Do you make one because you might forget what it is you want to do?  Or is there some internal satisfaction in checking off the old list.  Just wondering.

Do you have a bucket list?  Tell me one thing that's on it.  Make it something that doesn't have to do with travel, if you can.

  1. No lists here. I just want to love and support my sweetest of apple blossoms...

  3. I have one. I posted it on my blog a while back and had to go take a look at it to see what I wrote. This item is important to me: write an inspiring note and leave it somewhere for a stranger to find. I haven't done it yet, but I plan to.

    Have a great Friday.

    1. I tried to find it, Keith, but nothing jumped out at me. I saw the 10 places you want to visit though - Ireland topping the list :)

  5. No, I don't have a bucket list. I figure if there's something that I want to do, I should do it and not list it. (I'm trying to get away from lists. I have way too many of them, and the items tend to stay on the lists and not get done.)

    1. Yes, I am moving away from lists too -- except for store lists. Now that is an ongoing list on the frig - other wise, disaster would strike!

  6. I've never made a bucket list because the thought depresses rather than inspires me. I know I wouldn't have the energy and/or resources to make it to the end of the list :-)

    1. I get that! I think that might be one of the reasons I don't bother. I don't have a lot of spare change sitting around to use on travel, etc.

  7. Reached you via Jon's blog! I fell in love with your title picture, couldn't think what it could be at first - a magical figure crouching in the fountain? It's a reflection I guess...

As for bucket lists, I've never had them for the same reason as you. I try to do things NOW if I want to do them, or at least SOON. That seems to work for me, and if I can't do them I find something else I like to do.

    1. Hey, thanks for coming by and yes, I like that photo a lot! It is a self portrait, taken at a small fountain in the peace garden at a nearby open space park.
Yes, I do things as the opportunities arise (and sometimes I make the opportunities happen).

  8. Well, I certainly would love to travel more, but other than that, I don't really have a bucket list.

    1. How about publishing your book? Does that qualify?

  9. I'm far too disorganized to have a bucket list. If I ever did start one, the first (and maybe only) item on my list would be to find a way to shut my brain off on a regular basis. It seems like it spends a hell of a lot of time chasing its own tail, especially lately. ;)
